Master of Arts in Communication

Program Info
The Masters of Arts Program in Communication provides advanced study of communication for professionals currently in the workforce, and for recent graduates of appropriate bachelor’s degree programs. Through a balance of core and specialty courses, students broaden their knowledge of the communication field while learning the theory and practice necessary to raise their communication competence to higher levels.  Core courses cover writing, research, and theory, while specialty courses explore diverse areas such as organizational, intercultural, and small group communication, advanced public speaking, popular culture and communication media, and media criticism. Students further develop their expertise by participating in communication seminars, and individualize their learning through directed research and internship courses.

The Masters of Arts Program in Communication provides advanced study of communication for professionals currently in the workforce, and for recent graduates of appropriate bachelor’s degree programs.   Career options that are typical for this degree include Management Training and corporate

The M.A. degree is a 30-credit hour program with non-thesis and thesis options. The non-thesis option consists of a 9-hour core and 21 hours of electives, while the thesis option combines the 9-hour core with 15 hours of electives and 6 hours of thesis.
