Program Requirements

The Area of Concentration in Psychology is a 120-hour program. Students complete

54 hours of psychology courses,
30 hours of general education courses, and
36 hours of elective courses.

Psychology Requirements (54 hours)

Core (12 hours)
Students must complete all of the following:

PSY 154 – Introduction to Psychology
PSY 281 – Experimental Design and Analysis I
PSY 282 – Experimental Design and Analysis II
PSY 499C – Systems and Theories

Abnormal and Clinical Psychology (3 hours)
Students must complete at least one of the following:

PSY 450 – Abnormal Psychology
PSY 456 – Introduction to Clinical Psychology
PSY 469 – Counseling Psychology

Adjustment and Development (3 hours)
Students must complete at least one of the following:

PSY 156 – Lifespan Developmental Psychology
PSY 157 – Psychology of Adjustment

Biopsychology (3 hours)
Students must complete at least one of the following:

PSY 421 – Physiological Psychology
PSY 465 – Drugs and Behavior

Learning and Motivation (3 hours)
Students must complete at least one of the following:

PSY 486 – Motivation
PSY 489 – Psychology of Learning

Perception and Cognition (3 hours)
Students must complete at least one of the following:

PSY 380 – Cognitive Psychology
PSY 384 – Sensation & Perception

Social and Personality (3 hours)
Students must complete at least one of the following:

PSY 354 – Introduction to Social Psychology
PSY 390 – Psychology of Personality

Electives (24 hours)
Students must complete eight additional psychology courses

General Education Requirements (30 hours)
