Graduation Information

MSU hosts two commencement ceremonies each year to honor our graduates. Families, guests and alumni are welcome to attend. As a student, you will need to prepare for graduation during your senior year.

Ceremony Information

The Office of the Registrar coordinates the commencement ceremony for Morehead State University. Formal graduation ceremonies are held every fall in December (one ceremony) and spring in May (two ceremonies).

Students who complete degree requirements in the spring or summer are eligible to participate in the commencement ceremony in May of the graduation year. Students who complete degree requirements in the fall or winter are eligible to participate in the commencement ceremony in December of the graduation year. Graduates who elect not to participate in their respective ceremony will not be eligible to walk in a future ceremony unless they earn a new degree.

On the day of commencement, candidates for graduation are to report to the AAC an hour before the ceremony begins. Candidates should arrive dressed in their regalia. At that time, graduates will line up for the academic procession. The ceremony begins on time barring any extenuating circumstances so please arrive and line up on time.

All seating is first-come first-serve. Please refrain from bringing large bags or backpacks into the building. MSUPD reserves the right to search bags and/or prohibit any item from entering the premises. All individuals and their belongings are subject to search prior to entry and once inside the building.
