4th Annual MSU Funding & Grant Writing Symposium

Research & Sponsored Programs (RSP) will host our fourth Annual MSU Funding and Grant Writing Symposium on Thursday, Oct. 26, in the Educational Services Bldg. (Court Room) for the benefit of MSU faculty and staff at all career stages, as well as for students whose faculty wish to designate as needing focused instruction in grant writing. As in the past, the theme will be ”Succeeding in funding your research and creative endeavors at Morehead State University in today’s competitive funding environment.”

The symposium will begin at 8 a.m. with a workshop directed by our visiting speaker in the morning, followed by lunch at 12:45 p.m., then a second workshop in the afternoon from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

There is no charge for MSU employees or individually designated students. Attendees who cannot participate for the entire day may attend the morning session and stay for lunch, or come for lunch then stay for the afternoon session. Please call 783-2010 or email Brenda Dehart at b.dehart@moreheadstate.edu by Monday, Oct. 23, to register for the meeting and reserve a place at lunch. So that adequate seating/lunches can be made available, registration is required for participation.

Our mission of the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs is to provide the best possible support for the faculty, staff and students of Morehead State University in their pursuit of funding for research, other scholarly and creative activities, instruction, and public service. In order to achieve this, our office is organized around three important functions:

  • Pre-Award Administration – The Pre-Award Team handles all aspects of proposal development, such as identifying funding sources, electronic proposal submission, budget development/modification, information on specific funding entities, training for new investigators and more.
  • Post Award Administration – The Post-Award Team is responsible for duties related to post-award work, including award notifications, contract review, and facilitating account set up with the Office of Accounting and Fiscal Services. Additionally, the team handles research compliance issues ranging from the use of human and animal subjects to contract review, including oversight of state and federal regulations compliance, research ethics, memoranda of agreement, intellectual property and contract negotiations.
  • Research Enhancement – We are also pleased to provide leadership in providing a variety of resources, including internal research funding, release time, undergraduate research fellowships and the annual Celebration of Student Scholarship, to faculty staff and students to enhance and improve our institutional research infrastructure and capacity.
Our staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and eager to assist in the quest for external funding.
