MSU_GAME

MSU_GAME is MSU's wireless network dedicated entirely to gaming. By connecting your console to MSU_GAME, you will gain general internet access as well as peer-to-peer gaming connectivity with other registered users. The MSU_GAME network is available in all residence halls.

Connect your Console

You can connect your game console to the Morehead State University wireless network MSU_Game.  To connect you will need the wireless adapter MAC address (XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX) from your console (Select your console below for instructions) and your MSU ID (m#######) and associated password. Once you have this information please follow these steps to connect your game console to MSU_Game:

  1. On a computing device connected to MSU_SECURE, open a browser and go to the MSU Gaming Portal Sign On page at http://gaming.moreheadstate.edu.
  2. Enter your Morehead State University ID (m#######) and password in the appropriate boxes and click "SIGN ON."
  3. Please read the Morehead State University Acceptable Usage Policy and click on "I AGREE" if you agree with the policy contents and "DECLINE" if you do not agree with the policy contents.
  4. You will now see the Manage Devices page.  It will allow you to manage any previously registered devices or register new devices.  Click on "ADD" to register your game console.
  5. Enter a Device name (required field) in the designated box.  This is a name of your choosing.  Next enter the Device ID (the Wireless MAC address in the format XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX)(Required field). Finally, enter a description (optional field) and then click "SUBMIT."
  6. Please note that you may have to wait up to 15 minutes for the server to completely register the game console for connection availability. The status of the device will stay in the Pending state even after the server has authorized the connection.
  7. You will now be able to connect your game console to the MSU_Game network.​

Select your console from the list below for instructions on locating the MAC Address of your console and connecting to MSU_Game:

Connect to msu_game on your Nintendo Wii

  1. Power on your Wii and access the MAIN MENU.
  2. Select Wii SETTINGS.
  3. Using the arrow on the right side of the screen, scroll to PAGE 2, and select INTERNET.
  4. Select CONNECTION SETTINGS.
  5. Select WIRELESS CONNECTION.
  6. Select SEARCH FOR AN ACCESS POINT.
  7. Select OK.
  8. Select "MSU_Game" from the list of available wireless networks.
  9. The Wii will connect to the wireless network and run a connection test.
  10. Once you see a message that says “The connection test was successful,” your Wii is online and ready for use.​

Locate the MAC Address on your Nintendo Wii

  1. Power on your Nintendo Wii and access the MAIN MENU.
  2. Select Wii SETTINGS.
  3. Using the arrow on the right side of the screen, scroll to PAGE 2, and select INTERNET.
  4. Your MAC Address will be displayed near the bottom of the screen.
 

 

Connect to msu_game on your Playstation 4

  1. Power on your PS4 and access the MAIN MENU.
  2. Select SETTINGS.
  3. Select NETWORK.
  4. Select SET UP INTERNET CONNECTION.
  5. Select USE WI-FI.
  6. Select EASY.
  7. Select "MSU_Game" from the list of available wireless networks.
  8. A screen will load to indicate that the PS4 is “Checking network environment.” This will should be followed by the “Internet settings updates” screen.
  9. Select TEST INTERNET CONNECTION.
  10. Once the test is successful, you can use your PS4 online.


Locate the MAC Address on your Playstation 4

  1. Power on your PS4 and access the MAIN MENU.
  2. Select SETTINGS.
  3. Select NETWORK.
  4. Select VIEW CONNECTION STATUS.
  5. Your MAC Address will be displayed near the bottom of the screen.

Locate the MAC Address on your XBOX ONE

  1. Power on your XBOX ONE go to MY GAMES AND APPS.
  2. Select SETTINGS.
  3. Select NETWORK.
  4. Select ADVANCED SETTINGS.
  5. The MAC Addresses for the wireless adapters should be displayed.​
 

Connect to MSU_GAME on your XBOX ONE

  1. Power on your XBOX ONE.
  2. Select SETTINGS.
  3. Select ALL SETTINGS.
  4. Select NETWORK.
  5. Select SET UP WIRELESS NETWORK.
  6. Select "MSU_Game" from the list of available wireless networks.
  7. A screen will load stating “Connection to MSU_Game Wireless Network” followed by a message to indicate that the XBOX ONE is “Checking Connection”.
  8. Once the test is complete, a screen will state “It’s all good, your console is connected to the Internet”.

Locate the MAC Address on your XBOX 360

  1. Power on your XBOX 360 and select SETTINGS.
  2. Select NETWORK SETTINGS.
  3. Select CONFIGURE NETWORK.
  4. Select ADDITIONAL SETTINGS (under BASIC SETTINGS).
  5. Select ADVANCED SETTINGS.
  6. Your MAC Address will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.​


Connect to MSU_GAME on your XBOX 360

  1. Power on your XBOX 360 and select SETTINGS.
  2. Select NETWORK SETTINGS.
  3. Select "MSU_Game" from the list of available wireless networks. (If successful, proceed to step 9)
  4. IF you do not see any wireless networks, select ADVANCED OPTIONS.
  5. Select CONFIGURE NETWORK.
  6. Select WIRELESS MODE from the BASIC SETTINGS tab.
  7. Select SCAN FOR NETWORKS.
  8. Select "MSU_Game" from the list of available wireless networks.
  9. Once connected, select TEST XBOX LIVE CONNECTION.
  10. Once the test is successful, the XBOX will display the message: “XBOX LIVE STATUS: XBOX LIVE is up and running."
