Group Fitness

With a variety of classes to choose from, group fitness will give you an experience that will keep you coming back for more. Our instructors are prepared to inspire and motivate you to change or continue healthy fitness related behaviors. Our staff provides a safe, fun and effective environment and welcomes participants regardless of age, gender or fitness level. Look over this month's group fitness schedule and try something out.
 

Fees

A group fitness membership may be purchased in addition to your facility membership.

Students - group fitness is included in your membership

Faculty and Staff (benefit eligible) - $75 per semester, $150 per academic year, $50 per summer or $200 annually

Guest Pass - $7 per class

All other members - $50 per semester, $75 per academic year, $50 per summer or $100 annually

 

Private Group Fitness Class Rates & Room Reservations

Note: The MSU RECW reserves the right to decline any request and or reservation. Your reservation request may depend on a multitude of circumstances please allow at least 48hrs to submit your request preferably up to 1 week.
 

Private Group Fitness Classes

  • The facility reservation form must be filled out and submitted at least 48 hours in advance to initiate your request.
  • Group Fitness Classes must be conducted by MSU RECW trained fitness instructors.
  • Reservations are not available during regularly scheduled group fitness classes. Check the Group Fitness Schedule before requesting a date and time.
  • If you would like to schedule a recurring class, please schedule a minimum of three (maximum of five) classes no more than one month apart from one another.
  • If you would like to request a specific instructor, please note their full name and class format in the reservation form.
  • All requests must be approved and arranged by MSU RECW Staff.

Rates

  • MSU Student Group - $40 per class (single), $30 per class (recurring)
  • MSU (non-student group) - $75 per class (single), $65 per class (recurring)
  • Community - $115 per class (single), $105 per class (recurring)
 

Room Reservations

  • The facility reservation form must be filled out and submitted at least 48 hours in advance to initiate your request. This does not guarantee the request will be met.
  • Reservations are not available during regularly scheduled group fitness classes. Check the Group Fitness Schedule before requesting a date and time.
  • There are two rooms available, Group Fitness Room 210 has a capacity of 50 people and Group Fitness Room 211 has a of Capacity 30 people.
  • All reservations must be approved by MSU RECW Staff.

Class Descriptions

Yoga: 60 min - Connect with your mind, body and spirit in this fitness based yoga class. This relaxing and challenging workout is a combination of breathing, muscular strength and endurance, balance, coordination and other stress-management techniques.

Spin: 45 min - Indoor cycling is a group exercise class performed on stationary bikes. During the class, the instructor simulates hill-climbing, sprints, and races. It is truly a fantastic cardiovascular workout.

Cycling: 45 min - offers high energy stationary bike workouts that enhance cardiovascular endurance and muscular strength. Participants select personal intensity levels during the workout through body position and bike tension.

Step Aerobics: 45 min -Step aerobics is back!  This classic is a high intensity; yet low impact workout where you will do choreographed exercise routines up, onto, down and around the step for great cardio fitness, as well as exceptional training to shape the lower body. So step this way!

Abs N’ 20: 20 min - Be ready to work and tone up that 6-pack with this power-packed class! Focus on strengthening the abdominals and the lower back, while utilizing resistance equipment such as stability balls, medicine balls, and more!

Zumba®: 60 min - mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. Once the Latin and World rhythms take over, you'll see why Zumba® Fitness classes are often called exercise in disguise. Super effective? Check. Super fun? Check and check.

WERQ ®: 60 min - is the fiercely fun dance fitness class based on pop, rock, and hip hop music. The warm up previews the dance steps in class and the cool down combines yoga-inspired static stretching and balance poses.

Body Pump: 60 min - Come and get stronger as you scorch fat!  This is a total-body strength class integrated with cardio exercises that incorporates proven fitness principles so you will get the results you want.  Bring water, towel, and fun attitude!  All fitness levels welcome.

Pure Strength: 60 min - A total body strength training experience. Become the stronger you by using bars, kettlebells, dumbbells and other accessories. Learn techniques and applications of strength training while experiencing a one of kind atmosphere and use the tools to create your most powerful self. Experience Pure Strength!

PIYO ®: 45 min - combines the muscle-sculpting, core-firming benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility advantages of yoga. And, we crank up the speed to deliver a true fat-burning, low-impact workout that leaves your body looking long, lean, and incredibly defined.

Tabata: 60 min - Tabata interval training is one of the most effective types of high intensity interval training. Through a variety of simple, yet intense exercises, each class will blast the calories and provide noticeable results in a short amount of time. Whether your goal is muscle tone, weight loss, or both, this class will provide what you are looking for.

STRONG® by Zumba: 60 min - is a High Intensity Interval Training class using more traditional fitness moves for a more athletic, conditioning-style workout. You use your own body weight as resistance to achieve muscle definition. ... In a STRONG by Zumba™ class, music is the key element.

POUND®: 45 min - is the alternative group fitness format inspired by drumming! Burn up to 900+ calories per hour, strengthen and sculpt infrequently used muscles, and drum your way to a leaner, slimmer physique – all while rocking out to your favorite music
