Strategic Communication

The Bachelor of Arts in Strategic Communication is a unique program, promoting effective communication and media strategies for students aspiring to be managers or leaders of for-profit and nonprofit organizations. You will develop strong skills in critical thinking, effective writing, persuasion and message creation – all designed to cultivate relationships with an increasingly global audience and stakeholders in corporate, agency, governmental and media settings. 

Coursework places a focus on crisis communication, ethics, research methodologies, objectives setting, persuasion, collaborative communication, conflict management and team building while learning to develop and maintain a positive public image for organizations.

This program emphasizes experiential learning. You will complete an internship where you will learn job skills and be able to apply concepts that you have studied in your coursework.

You must successfully complete 24 hours of area requirements and 24 hours of approved departmental electives. Students who successfully complete 48 hours in the major, 36 hours of general education courses and 36 hours of general electives will have the 120 hours required for graduation.
