Our department understands employers want to hire experienced graduates. As a student in our department, you can participate in undergraduate research fellowships as early as your freshman year and faculty members will work closely to assist you in your internship experiences.
You will gain experience and knowledge of the art submission and exhibition process and have opportunities to showcase your work each year through the following:
- Gateway Regional Arts Center Annual Juried Art Student Exhibit
- Fine Arts Showcase
- Women’s Studies Celebration
- Bluegrass Biennial Exhibit
- Sophomore and Senior Exhibitions
Take advantage of the opportunities to submit your work for further publishing through our annual juried Inscape literary and visual arts magazine.
There are also many excellent education abroad programs available at MSU and our faculty members are dedicated to helping you find the resources needed to expand your experiences.
Arts Entrepreneurship Minor
We want to arm you with the survival skill set you need to run your own business and take charge of your own branding.
Our new arts entrepreneurship minor is the only one of its kind offered in Kentucky and complements many other degrees. Coursework in the program will focus on personal empowerment, consultancy work, and small and micro business management skills. You will learn how to create work consistently, build a business plan and identify funding opportunities to support your goals. You will learn how to recognize creative opportunities, develop creative products and promote yourself throughout the region and beyond.
Validate your art and design skills and prove to employers you can plan, build and maintain effective digital communications through earning certification as an Adobe Certified Associate. Learn more about how you can participate in the Adobe certification program on campus.
