Art Teaching

Are you interested in teaching Art? Morehead State offers both a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) in Art Teaching. Either degree will prepare you for a career teaching art in public schools and both degrees meet the Kentucky teacher certification requirements.

Why a B.F.A.?

The Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) is considered the most prestigious bachelor's degree one can receive in the visual arts and design. This professionally-oriented, specialized degree will prepare you for a career in art and design or for entry into a Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) graduate program where you may continue your study in areas such as drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, graphic design, digital art, animation, ceramics and sculpture. You will develop your creative ability, technical competence, aesthetic awareness, and understanding of the context in which contemporary art is created. You will also study visual art and design in historical, philosophical and cultural contexts.

The B.F.A. in Art Teaching provides ample opportunity for creative exploration in studio areas as you also earn P-12 teacher certification. Graduates of this program are qualified to teach in public or private P-12 schools, or may choose to pursue graduate work in studio art or art education.
