Art Education

Are you interested in teaching Art? MSU provides you with the options of pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Art Education P-12 or a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education P-12. Both degrees are suitable for preparing you for careers in teaching art in the public schools and meet Kentucky teacher certification requirements.

Why a BFA?

The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) is considered to be the most prestigious bachelor's degree that one can receive in the visual arts and design. This professionally-oriented, specialized degree will prepare you for a career in art and design or for entry into a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) graduate program where you may continue study in areas such as drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, graphic design, digital art, animation, ceramics and sculpture. You will develop your creative ability, technical competence, aesthetic awareness, and an understanding of the context in which contemporary art is created. You will also study visual art and design in historical, philosophical and cultural contexts.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education will provide ample opportunity for creative exploration in studio areas as you also earn P-12 teacher certification. Graduates of this program are qualified to teach in public or private P-12 schools, or may choose to pursue graduate work in studio art or art education.
