Jennifer A. Reis, currently Coordinator/Instructor, Arts Entrepreneurship program and Gallery Director at Morehead State University, is an arts and higher education professional as well as a practicing and teaching artist. After receiving her B.F.A. in studio arts from Columbus College of Art and Design in Ohio, Ms. Reis continued her education at Syracuse University by earning an M.A. in Museum Studies, and an M.A. in Studio Art with an Art Education Emphasis from Morehead State University.  She is a certified instructor through the CoreFour Entrepreneurship program and has managed an arts business for over a decade. Ms. Reis has worked at and for numerous arts and educational institutions, including Miami University of Ohio, University of Kentucky, Columbus Museum of Art, Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University, Louisville Visual Arts Association, and Cincinnati's Contemporary Art Center and Cincinnati Art Museum. Through her diverse experiences in arts administration, creative entrepreneurship, and teaching, Ms. Reis brings a holistic perspective to arts education, management, and business.  An actively exhibiting artist, her work has been featured at the Society for Contemporary Craft, Art St. Louis, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, Womanmade Gallery, Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, Appalachian Center for Craft, National Quilt Museum, among others.  Promotions regarding her artistic practice have been featured in American CraftFiberArts, and Surface Design Association Journal magazines and Quilting with Beads, a Lark Crafts publication. She is a recipient of the Al Smith Fellowship, awarded by the Kentucky Arts Council for high artistic merit as well and other grants and awards. As a teaching artist and scholar, she conducts workshops on embellished textiles and mixed media techniques, and hosts classes in arts entrepreneurship and professional practice for artists at universities, art centers, and non-profit organizations nationally. Through work for regional and national organizations, she has been responsible for curating and jurying over a hundred exhibitions, art/craft shows and competitive programs. She has served on several boards and committees to advance the arts, including Americans for the Arts, Surface Design Association and the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen, and has lobbied in the United State Senate for national arts funding. Through her work as a KPAN consultant for the Kentucky Arts Council, she assists with artist mentoring and program development. Founded in her belief in the power of arts education and opportunities to positively affect individual lives independent of age or environment, she aims to create through arts administration, education, and creation, meaningful and transformative cultural experiences.
