Gender Studies Advisory Council

The Women's Studies Program accepts nominations and self-nominations for membership on its free-standing Advisory Council once a year during the month of April.  Members are elected for two-year renewable terms beginning the following August. To receive consideration, please send a note describing interest and background in Women's Studies and a current c.v. to the Director of Women's Studies before April of each year. 

2018 Art, Media & Writing Contest

Successful submissions will provide insights into gender issues in general, and women's issues in particular, within the context of American culture and/or the world at large. The artist/author must strive to offer original insights and/or novel approaches to problems in women's studies. The contest is open to currently enrolled MSU students only. Awards will include Performance/Video Art Award ($100), Poetry Award ($50), Prose Award ($50) and Visual Arts Award ($100).

Submission deadline is March 1, 2018. Deliver DVDs or actual work to 111 Breckinridge Hall. Contact Ann Andaloro for more information. Download our flyer.

Writing Submissions

  • One work per person
  • No longer than 10 pages
  • Attach a cover sheet with name and contact information, including email.

Art Submissions

  • One work per person
  • 2-D: No larger than 30" x 30"
  • 3-D: No dimension larger than 24"
  • Any media is welcome, must be exhibit-ready
  • Attach a label with name and contact information, including email.
