Cover Design Submission Form & Guidelines

You may submit up to 3 entries for the Inscape Cover Design contest. In addition to submitting the online form below, you must follow these submission guidelines:

  • Submissions must be solely the work of the designer. Reproductions or alterations of other designers' and/or artists' works are not permitted.
  • Images should be 11.375 " W x 8.5" H and .34" for the spine (plus .5 " bleed). Submissions should include the front and back covers as well as the spine. 
  • Make sure to allow at least .5 inch bleed around design
  • Image resolution should be at least 600 dpi
  • Design may use any number of colors plus black
  • Designs created in a vector-based program (Adobe Illustrator) must outline all fonts before saving files
  • Acceptable file formats include: .jpg, .ai, .eps, .psd, .tif, .pdf
  • Upload your digital cover design file(s) below, please keep in mind that large files will take a while to upload.

Inscape Submission Blitz

Inscape staff members will be holding a submission blitz in room 210 of the Claypool-Young Art building on Monday, Nov. 27, from 5:30 - 7 p.m. Staff will be available to help you correctly submit your materials.


Prizes and Submission Deadline

A $100 prize sponsored by the Office of Communications & Marketing will be awarded to the selected design. The cover design will be revealed and its designer announced at the Inscape Fine Arts Showcase reception on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. in MSU's Claypool-Young Art Gallery. 

Entries must be submitted by Dec. 1, 2017.

Cover Design Submission Form

Complete the cover design submission form and upload digital files to the form. The publication will be revealed and prize winners announced at the Inscape Reception on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. in MSU's Claypool-Young Art Gallery.

By submitting an entry to Inscape, you are granting Morehead State University permission to publish your work in the journal, on our website and in Inscape and/or Department of Art & Design and Department of English promotional or publicity materials. Furthermore, submissions must be solely the works of the artist and/or designer. Reproductions or alterations of another designer's or artist's works are not permitted.

You will be required to include a short biography in your submission form. You may include your major at MSU if you are a student, a brief description of your current artistic projects and any awards you may have won for your artwork previously.

Sample Bio: Jane Smith is an art major at Morehead State University, whose work is generally surreal- focusing on a combination of ideas in alchemy, psychology, geology and how they speak about society as a whole and each of us as individuals. Smith displayed work in the 2013 and 2012 Juried Student Art Exhibits at the Gateway Regional Art Center and had work published in the 2013 issue of Inscape. In 2013, she received an Honorable Mention award in the Senior Exhibition at Morehead State University.
