The Department of Mathematics and Physics offers you a wide range of majors and degree options to equip you with the knowledge and skills to achieve your dreams. Our dedicated faculty members have a wealth of professional experience and expertise and are committed to helping you succeed from the moment you set foot in the classroom until you cross the stage at graduation.

You’ll also have the chance to gain valuable mathematics and physics research skills through MSU’s Undergraduate Research Fellowship program. You can work side-by-side with professors conducting academic research and could have your findings published in an undergraduate journal or present your research at professional conferences. 

PIC Math

The Department of Mathematics and Physics offers the Preparation for Industrial Careers in Mathematical Sciences (PIC Math) program to help students use their skills to solve real-world problems. Students collaborate with local and regional groups and organizations, and use their math skills to help those groups solve a problem or deal with an issue they are facing.

Prestigious Internships
