Morehead State's online Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) post-licensure program is designed for working nurses who want to take their career to the next level. All nursing courses are offered online in an eight-week modular format. The faculty at Morehead State University provide you with individualized advising and attention while sharing their expertise in an interactive learning environment. To qualify for the program, students must have an unrestricted license to practice nursing in Kentucky.

Notification of Department of Nursing Curricular Changes, Post-Licensure Baccalaureate of Nursing Program

Two new courses were approved and will be offered this fall. These courses will serve as  NURS “Elective Courses” which students can take to meet Post-Licensure Baccalaureate of Nursing Program requirements. These courses will also serve as free/general electives for other MSU majors.

  • NURS 380-Health Promotion for Aging Persons, (3-0-3)

This course champions healthy aging by demonstrating how to prevent or manage disease and make large-scale improvements toward health and wellness in the older adult population.  Learners will synthesize research evidence with practical, effective strategies.  Health promotion, resources provision, and assessment of the older adult population will be incorporated.

  • NURS 430-Health Disparities, (3-0-3)

This course focuses on a solution-oriented, candid outlook on the problem of health disparities and the ongoing need for diversity in the field of health. Focus will be on looking at diversity and inclusion, as well as the context, controversies, and solutions that impact health disparities.  

MSU has now joined SARA (State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement) which will allow students to complete clinical requirements in other states. Language regarding the requirement of “Kentucky” RN licensure was removed from the admission criteria. “Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse licensure” is required.

Students must hold an active and unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse (RN) in Kentucky.
