Job Classification Review Committee

Termination Date: Advisory Committee, last revision September 2000.
 

Purpose: To review all classification requests that are not approved or not approved to the level of initial request by the Office of Human Resources.
 

Membership: Membership shall consist of one representative from each EEO category, one at-large member from an exempt category, one at-large member from a non-exempt category, one alternative member from exempt category, and one alternative member from a non-exempt category.  The alternatives will attend only those meetings when one or more Committee members will abstain from voting on reclassification decisions affecting employees within their departments/offices or for any other reason that might constitute a conflict of interest on their part.  The Committee shall initially elect a Chairperson and a vice-chairperson from its membership.  The Chairperson shall serve a one year term.  The vice-chairperson shall serve a one year term with automatic succession to the Office of Chairperson the following year.  Each committee member, including the Chairperson and the vice-chairperson will have one vote.  Each committee member will serve a four-year term.
 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • To review all reclassification requests that are not approved or not approved to the level of initial request by the Office of Human Resources.
 

Officers: Chairperson, vice-chairperson to be selected by the committee from the membership.
 

Frequency of Meetings: As required.
 

Reporting Channels: Recommendatory to the Vice President for Administrative and Fiscal Services. Recommended changes in policies and procedures shall be reported to the Faculty Senate and Staff Congress.
 

Minutes and Proposals Copied to: The Library, Faculty Senate, Student Government Association, and Staff Congress.
 

Support Services: Office of the Vice President for Administrative and Fiscal Services.

 


 

MEMBERSHIP

The procedure for resignation from a University Standing Committee is written notification to the University Standing Committee chairperson, Faculty Senate secretary, and the faculty member’s Department Chair. In the absence of a University Standing Committee Chairperson, the notification may be sent to the Faculty Senate secretary and the faculty member’s Department Chair.
