Ullrich hired as head of special collections and archives

Morehead State University’s Camden-Carroll Library has hired Dieter Ullrich as its new head of special collections and archives librarian. He began work on Aug. 1.

Ullrich has a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science from Metropolitan State University in Denver, Colorado, a Master of Arts degree in History from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of Kentucky.

He has 22 years of working experience in university libraries and archives, published more than 30 articles on local and regional history in Kentucky and created several hundred web based presentations and finding aids that have allowed public access to numerous unique and diverse archival collections.

Ullrich comes to Morehead from Murray State University where he served as director of special collections and archives.

He is a member of the Society of American Archivists, Kentucky Council on Archives, Kentucky Digital Library Advisory Committee and the Advisory Committee on University Records for the Kentucky Department of Library and Archives.

 He also is a member of the Jackson Purchase Historical Society and served on the Publication Committee for the organization's annual journal and as its website coordinator.
