Service-Learning

Through service-learning and engagement, students gain eduational experiences that not only fulfill the goals of their academic courses, but also strengthen community assets while addressing community needs. Participating students reflect on their experiences to gain a deeper understanding of course content, a broader appreciation of the discipline, improved critical thinking skills and an enhanced sense of values and civic responsibility. Likewise, participating faculty promote active learning, engage students with different learning styles, add new insights to class discussion, increase public awareness of key issues and help prepare today's student to be tomorrow's civic leaders.
