No, if you aren't sure whether or not you want to prosecute the assailant, you can still have evidence collected. You don't have to follow through with prosecution. Having evidence collected may make it easier to press charges against the assailant later.
 
Yes, a trained advocate can be provided. They can provide emotional support. This person also may assist friends or family members who may be with you at the time of the exam. The advocate can assist you with a follow-up medical and counseling appointment and provide support throughout the social and private healing process of a sexual assault survivor. 
 
In Kentucky, rape is defined as sexual intercourse without the victim's consent. Sexual contact without the victim's consent is defined as sexual abuse.
