Meal Plan Considerations

All students must submit meal plan orders for fall terms. The spring term will be covered by the fall/spring meal plan contract.  Please remember that your spring status may change once your fall credit hours are applied.

  • Will your schedule dramatically change due to labs, sports, or other activities?
  • Will you be going home more or less often on the weekends? This will effect the number of meals needed for the week.
  • Will your status change? (sophomore to junior) If so, take into consideration that you are no longer required and will not default to the Eagle 15 weekly meal plan. If you wish to participate in a meal plan or BeakerBUCKS, you must submit an order.
  • Will you be 21 years of age prior to the Spring 2018 term? If so, you are not required to participate in the traditional meal plan, but will be required to participate in MSU’s new Dining Dollars Program. If you wish to participate in a different meal plan or BeakerBUCKS you must submit an order. If you do not submit an order, students who meet the criteria will automatically default to the Dining Dollars Program.
  • Will you be changing residence halls? Students living at Eagle Lake Apartments, Mays Hall, and Normal Hall are not required to participate in the traditional meal plan, but will be required to participate in the Dining Dollars Program. Your account will automatically default to this program. Students living at the University Farm (Lundergan Hall and Padula Hall) are not required to participate in the Dining Dollars Program.
  • BeakerBUCKS account balances carry forward BUT we do not automatically recharge your BeakerBUCKS for each semester. A new order will have to be placed at EagleCard Online for BeakerBUCKS to be added to your spring 2017 student bill.

Do you want to keep the same plan?

See below concerning status and other changes.
  • Sophomores going to junior status, your default charge will not be charged to your spring 2018 student bill once your credit hours have been applied to your student billing. If you wish to participate in the 15 weekly meal plan you must submit a meal plan order.
  • If you were a junior, senior or graduate student during fall 2017 and chose any plan you will not need to submit a new order for spring 2018.
  • The 15 weekly meal plan is now the minimum default for residential freshman and sophomore status students living on campus and under 21. The EAGLE Unlimited plan is (3 retail meals a day, 7 days a week with unlimited meals at the new dining location – The Fresh Food Company (The Rock).
  • NOTICE: Full time residential freshmen and sophomores under 21 years of age will default to the 15 weekly meal plan if no plan is chosen. Freshmen cannot choose the $1000 flex, $750 flex or the 30 Block.  Sophomores may choose any plan for spring 2018 (accept for the 30 block) once the fall 2017 credit hours are applied.
