    • Astrophysics - Bachelor of Science

B.S. in Physics/Area of Concentration in Astrophysics draws upon courses in physics, astronomy, and mathematics...the program is designed to prepare students for graduate level work in astrophysics.

    • Biology

The program in Biology is broad-based with many career options. The hallmark of the program is a core set of courses that all students must take, thus assuring uniformity in the basic fields of biology.  Students could choose a career in one of the following fields:  pharmacy, medicine, optometry, environmental science, physical therapy, chiropractic, dentistry, physician assistant, teaching, podiatry and other fields as qualified.

    • Biology Area

The Biology Area of Concentration is designed for students interested in environmental and organismal science.  The courses cover the range of Biology form Molecules to cells to organisms to interactions between organisms.

    • Biology Teaching Area

The Biology Teaching Area is very similar to the Biology Area, but education courses are added into the curriculum and the electives ensure broad knowledge so that the studeing is able to teach broadly within the discipline.

    • Biomedical Chemistry Area

The Biomedical Chemistry Area is somewhat the mirror image of the Biomedical Sciences Area, except that it is for students interested in Chemistry. Chemistry students pursuing this degree will be prepared for health-professional school, a career in biomedical chemistry, or entry into graduate school in a biomedical chemistry area.

    • Biomedical Sciences Area

The biomedical sciences area was developed specifically for students intent on attending a health professional school, pursuing a career in biomedicine, or pursuing graduate education in biomedical disciplines. The courses are heavily weighted toward biomedical subjects.

    • Career and Technical Education - MSCTE

MS - Career and Technical Education

    • Chemistry

The Chemistry program is diverse, allowing students choices such as pursuing a degree in the health-care industry, working as an environmental chemist, or entering graduate school. The Chemistry Area Concentration possesses great depth and prepares students for a career in chemistry whereas the Chemistry Major usually prepare students for a field related to chemistry, such as pharmacy, optometry, medical or teaching.

    • Chemistry Teaching Major

The Chemistry Teaching Major is similar to the General Chemistry Major, except that education courses are added to the curriculum.

    • Computed Tomography/Magnetic Resonance - BS in Imaging Sciences

The Computed Tomography/Magnetic Resonance Program at Morehead State University is an Area of Concentration in the Imaging Sciences baccalaureate degree program.  During the program, students are provided with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform procedures using specialized computer equipment, ionizing radiation, and magnetic resonance to produce sectional anatomy images of various parts of the body.  Along with lecture courses, the program provides hands-on training opportunities in state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and clinical education centers associated with the program.  The program prepares graduates who seek employment in hospitals and imaging centers as CT Technologists and/or MR Technologists.

The program has a selective admission process and limited enrollment.  Students are admitted once a year (April), with classes beginning in the second summer session of each year.  The qualified applicant must be a radiographer (registry-eligible or registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) and have completed all prerequisites prior to entry (see ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS for additional information.)  Following official acceptance, the program consists of 13 months (full-time) of lecture courses, laboratory courses, and clinical practice.

    • Diagnostic Medical Sonography - BS in Imaging Sciences

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program at Morehead State University is an Area of Concentration in the Imaging Sciences baccalaureate degree program. Sonography is the use of sound waves to generate an image for the assessment and diagnosis of various medical conditions. Sonography is commonly associated with obstetrics and the use of ultrasound imaging during pregnancy, but this technology has many other applications in the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions throughout the body. Along with lecture courses, the program provides "hands-on" opportunities in state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and during clinical assignments at health care agencies associated with the program.  Graduates may be eligible to sit for the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers' (ARDMS) national certifying examinations in the areas of sonographic physics and instrumentation, abdomen and obstetrics/gynecology.  The program prepares graduates who seek employment in hospitals, imaging centers, and physicians' offices as Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.

The program has a selective admission process and limited enrollment.  Students are admitted once a year (April), with classes beginning in the second summer session of each year.  The qualified applicant must be a radiographer (registry-eligible or registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) and have completed all prerequisites prior to entry (see ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS for additional information.)

Following official acceptance, the program consists of 13 months (full-time) of didactic coursework and clinical practice averaging 30 - 36 hours per week.  The student will begin courses during Summer II.
