Student Organization Annual Registration

The process for currently registered clubs to re-register is listed below.  If your organization is NOT listed as a currently registered organization, then it is considered a new club, and will have to follow the registration proceedures for a new club.

• Complete a Club Account Authorization Form 
  Turn this in to Student Activities, 204 ADUC
• At least one club officer must attend one Getting Organized Meeting (1 hour long) 

Student Organization Federal Tax ID Number Requirement

In order for any department at Morehead State University to issue a payment to a student organization, the student organization must have an Employer Identification Number (EIN), which is the equivalent of a Social Security number for a business on file with the Office of Accounting and Budgetary Control.  Student organizations affiliated with a national or regional organization (i.e. a national honor society, a fraternity) can use the national EIN number, if the national group will allow it.

For clubs who are not affiliated with a national or regional organization, they must apply for and recieve their own number. 

Having an EIN does NOT necessarily mean you will have to file a tax return for your student organization.  The Internet EIN application is the preferred method to apply for and obtain an EIN. Once the application is completed, the information is validated during the online session, and an EIN is issued immediately.  The person completing the form must have a valid Taxpayer Identification Number (Social Security Number, Employer Identification Number, or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) in order to use the online application.
