Alumni Scholarship
VALUE PER YEAR: $1000
Minimum criteria for consideration:
To be considered for the Alumni Scholarship, at least one parent, grandparent or spouse of the applicant must be an MSU alumnus (completed 16 hours at MSU) and an active member of the MSU Alumni Association.
To become an active member, the parent, grandparent or spouse needs only to make an annual contribution to the MSU Foundation, Inc. Although there is no minimum contribution required, we do recommend $100 annually.
In addition, the applicant must meet the following requirements:
1. must apply for admission to University by March 15 (be sure to check the box that says my parent is a MSU alumni);
2. be admitted to MSU as an entering freshman or transfer student with legal residence in Kentucky;
3. have a minimum ACT composite of 18;
4. have an Admission Index of at least 450; transfer students must have at least a cumulative 3.0 g.p.a. (on a 4.0 scale) for the equivalent of at least one full term.
Criteria for renewal:
Achieve a minimum cumulative 2.75 g.p.a. during each of the first two semesters and a
minimum cumulative 3.0 g.p.a. for each semester thereafter. Transfer students must maintain a minimum cumulative 3.0 g.p.a.
Admissions Index: calculated by multiplying the high school g.p.a. times 100, the ACT test score times 10 and adding the two together (g.p.a. X 100 + ACT X 10 = Index).
*Note: An out-of-state student who is receiving in-state tuition is not eligible to receive the Alumni Scholarship.
