  • Morehead State University ALLYance

The ALLYance is a student organization determined to provide resources, education, awareness and support to Morehead State University and the surrounding community. The primary focus of the organization is to work toward equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, questioning/queer, intersexed, asexual and allied (LGBTQQIA) community members.

The ALLYance is an advocacy organization that strives to promote a campus community that can be open, honest and safe.

The ALLYance meets every Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the in ADUC 301. Everyone is welcome.

Meetings consist of social and academic discussion, led by a body of officers and advisor, Shante Hearst. Because the ALLYance focuses on providing resources, education, awareness and support, discussions are often casual but members are urged to respect the privacy and secrecy of the information shared. Meetings are also a conduit for action on and off campus, including participating in gay pride events, protests, rallies, and The Day of Silence. Members are often asked to join committees to plan events, budgeting, marketing and to deal with organizational issues that arise.
