Membership

New and renewing members are welcome to join at any time of the year. Members often pay their annual membership dues or renewals at the same time that they register for our annual conference. For 2009 and possibly for 2010, AWA has decided to have a Virtual Conference with most of the same benefits offered to members and conference attendees.

Some folks learn about us throughout the year, and we welcome their membership and participation. Membership costs only a modest $20.00 annual fee ($10 for students). Should you decide to join the Appalachian Writers Association, please include any information you have about forthcoming publications and projects. We would also like to add your web site to our "Connections" page. All AWA members are eligible for our contests and awards. We also invite your nominations for Appalachian Book of the Year (ABOY) Award and the award for Outstanding Contributions to Appalachian Literature (see details on ABOY, Contest, and other web pages).

As of July 12, 2009 we have 87 members, an increase of 21 members since July 2008.

As of May 12, 2009 Dr. Walton is not longer affiliated as a Professor at Morehead State University having accepted an appointment as an Assistant Professor at Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio, only 2 hours from her family's home in Lima, Ohio.
