About MSU at Ashland
Welcome to Morehead State University-Ashland. Our mission is to serve the citizens of Ashland and the surrounding counties with services and educational opportunities to complete bachelor's or master's degrees.
Morehead State University has been offering college courses in Ashland for more than 30 years. Initially, a handful of graduate classes for public school teachers were available at night at local high schools. Within a few years, those classes were moved to the campus of Ashland Community College and later to downtown facilities owned by the Ashland Board of Education.
Morehead State University established a full-time presence in Ashland in 1987 with the opening of its Ashland Area Extended Campus Center offices in the Mayo Arcade. In 1990 the Center was moved to occupy two floors of the G.B. Johnson Building on Winchester Avenue in downtown Ashland. In 2000 the Ashland Extended Campus Center was renamed to become MSU at Ashland. In order to provide area students with a smooth transition from the two-year community and technical college to a university, MSU at Ashland moved to College Drive on the campus of Ashland Community and Technical College in the summer of 2004.
MSU at Ashland is approximately an hour away from the home campus and serves the Ashland area with a variety of educational programs both for degree and non-degree seeking students. More than 500 students enroll each semester at the graduate and undergraduate level for traditionally taught day, night, and weekend classes, as well as internet and interaction video classes from the main campus.
As a result of transferring credit from Ashland Community and Technical College or any other accredited college, students can earn bachelor's degrees from MSU at Ashland in business administration, elementary and middle school education, nursing, social work and university studies.
Also available at MSU at Ashland are master's degrees in education and graduate-level professional certification programs in education, including Fifth Year and Rank I.
MSU at Ashland is committed to giving students from the region a quality education, without the necessity of having to live on or commute to a college or university campus.
