Overview

The pre-pharmacy program at Morehead State University prepares students for admission to pharmacy school. To become a pharmacist, a student must complete at least two years of a pre-pharmacy program followed by four years at the College of Pharmacy at the University of Kentucky or another pharmacy school. Graduates of pharmacy school are awarded a doctorate of pharmacy (Pharm. D.). To satisfy the University of Kentucky's requirements, the pre-pharmacy curriculum requires principles of biology, zoology, microbiology, and physiology or anatomy. In addition, two semesters each of mathematics, physics, and English, four semesters of chemistry, and one semester each of statistics and microeconomics are required. The program requirements takes a minimum of two years to complete, but due to the rigorous nature of the coursework, most students here take three or four years. Click on pre-pharmacy program to see suggested two and three year options of coursework. Following completion of the pre-pharmacy curriculum, you must apply to a pharmacy school for the professional component. The admission requirements for the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy are: 2.5 GPA of required courses, composite score on the Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT) of 200 and interviews. To be competitive, applicants need a GPA of 3.5 and a PCAT score of 370.
