What We Do
The Center for Economic Education at Morehead State University is one of nine active centers located throughout Kentucky. We are part of the National Council on Economic Education, specifically, the Kentucky Council on Economic Education.
The Center provides materials and training in economics to assist schools and districts in our twenty-two county service region and beyond. The Center is involved in the coordination of professional development training P-12 in economic education. Training teachers to teach economics through an integrative approach and providing classroom-tested, teacher-developed materials in whatever area they currently teach is the focus.
Teacher advocates aid in teacher training by serving as consultants to assist when needed. Training and materials on programs such as: the Stock Market Game World Wide(Internet version), Virtual Economics, and many others such as Community Publishing, Artsmart, Children's Literature, Gingerbread Man, et cetera enhance our learning activities.
The economics education given through professional development meets KERA goals and pertains directly to CATS assessment in the area of economics(social studies component) P-12. The Center for Economic Education assists schools and districts by matching needs with the appropriate curriculum, so that special areas of interest are covered.
When your school and/or district is planning the professional development training calendar for the new year, please remember Morehead State University's Center for Economic Education. The Center would enjoy working with you and your school to meet your needs.
