SERVICES

JOB POSTING

The preferred method of posting jobs is through our MSU Job-Link System.  The system is powered through NACE-Link/Symplicity. To register as an MSU employer/recruiter and to post a job/internship position, go to MSU JOB link for EMPLOYERS. Click the "register for a new account".  Click here to view a Power Point presentation about How to Register as an Employer and Post Jobs in MSU Job-Link.

This system will allow you to access student resumes and post job descriptions 24/7 from anywhere you have internet access.

If you prefer to have our staff post your positions, please feel free to send your job description to us by email at: r.crisp@moreheadstate.edu or FAX to: (606) 783-5018.

CO-OP AND INTERNSHIP

Co-operative Education and Internships are professional level experiential education for students to apply classroom theory to real life work situations. Students may do experiential education either as an academic internship in which they earn college credit for working with an employer or as a non-credit internship. Students may not always need academic credit, but would like to earn valuable work experience by utilizing a non-credit internship. Generally, a non-credit internship should be paid, according to Department of Labor standards.

Benefits:

  • Interns may bring new ideas and fresh problem solving skills adding value to your company’s success.
  • Interns bring professional level assistance to your organization at a low cost.
  • Interns can be used to complete a project and alleviate added stress to full time employees.
  • Interns can be hired for seasonal and part time employment.
  • Internships offer a way of recruiting full time employees.

To participate:

  • Develop a job description that will attract a potential intern. Determine if pay is possible. Fifty percent (or more) of the intern’s responsibilities should be professional level tasks.
  • Post your internship job description on MSU JOB-link.
  • Interview students who may be interested in the position.
  • Complete a Learning Contract with your new intern. This is the student's responsibility to complete and return to Career Services.
  • Be a good mentor and consistent supervisor to your intern.
  • Offer constructive criticism and fill out a student evaluation form at the end of the student’s internship.
  • Send a copy of the evaluation to: j.hawkins@moreheadstate.edu
  • Pat yourself on the back for helping students become professionals.
