CEOC Welcomes Two New Staff Members

The CEOC programs welcomed two new staff members recently.  Delanna Fugate Joined the CEOC Southeast staff at the beginning of August.  She works out of the outreach office located at the University Center of the Mountains in Hazard and serves Knott, Letcher and Perry counties.  Ryan Swallow joined the CEOC Northeast Staff at the beginning of September.  Ryan works out of the outreach office in the MSU Regional campus at Jackson and serves Breathitt, Lee, Owsley and Wolfe counties.

Director of CEOC Elected Vice President of NEOCA

Tom Rowland, Project Director of the Commonwealth Educational Opportunity Center (CEOC) at Morehead State University, has been elected to the office of Vice President of the National Educational Opportunity Center Association (NEOCA).  Mr. Rowland was elected at the National Conference in September in San Antonio, Texas.  He has served as the Project Director of the CEOC at Morehead State University since April of 2005, where he directs two Educational Opportunity Center grants.  Mr. Rowland has worked in the TRiO Programs for the past thirteen years in Oklahoma and Kentucky.  He also currently serves as the Vice President of the Kentucky Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel (KAEOPP).

 

 

 

 

 

 

Counselors Lead Roundtable Session at State Meeting 

Sharee St. Louis Smith and Linda Thompson led the Educational Opportunity Centers (EOC) Roundtable Session at the Kentucky Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel (KAEOPP) Conference at the Marriott Griffin Gate Resort and Spa in Lexington, Kentucky in early November.  Ms. St. Louis Smith and Ms. thompson lead the group in discussion topics currently affecting the EOC programs.  The session was attended by EOC staff personnel from across Kentucky and Tennessee.

CEOC Delivers Computers for Carter County Adult Learning Center

Morehead State University donated thirty computers to the Carter County Adult Learning Center (ALC) in November. Commonwealth Educational Opportunity Center (CEOC) Counselor Penny helped facilitate the donation to the Learning Center.  The computers were delivered to the Learning Center by Ms. Felty and the CEOC Director, Tom Rowland.

 Counselors are Emerging Leaders

CEOC Counselors Rhonda Sloan and Ryan Swallow have been selected to attend the Emerging Leaders Institute (ELI) of the Southeast Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel (SAEOPP).  The event will take place at the Renaissance Riverview Hotel in Mobile, Alabama on January 30th.  The program is a two year staff development program for members of SAEOPP.  Ms. Sloan is a second year participant in the program and Mr. Swallow will be in the first year.
