Careers
Do you like science? Do you like Chemistry? Maybe a career in Chemistry is for you.
A Chemistry degree provides an opportunity for many doors to be opened. Salaries for Chemistry degree holders is also very competitive. A B.S. Chemist can expect to make 30-40k/year depending on location to start. Salaries at about 40-55k/year for a Masters degree (M.S.) Chemist and another 50-75k/year for the Doctorate (Ph.D.) degree holder. Salaries are generally the greatest in the private sector (Industry) and less for government jobs and teaching positions. Location is a very important factor in determining the salary you'll earn.
Being a Chemist isn't always about being a researcher in the lab. Many careers are available to the holder of a degree in Chemistry. Sales, Law, Teaching, Forensics, Pharmacy, Medicine, Optometry, Physical Therapy, Marketing, Consulting, Environmental Protection, and the list goes on. Coordination with a Chemistry Program advisor can help you tailor your program to help you toward your goal.
