Graduate Certification Opportunities

Our department also houses several graduate programs and certifications.

Preparing You for Career Success

Graduates of our programs are prepared to pursue careers in the following:

  • Elementary education: kindergarten through 5th grade
  • Education in public and private schools for young children birth through kindergarten
  • Child development: work in or manage private childcare programs
  • Community support services: work for people with disabilities, employment programs, group homes, residential programs or comprehensive care centers
  • Special education: learning and behavioral disorders and moderate and severe disabilities

Professional Growth and Extensive Field Experiences

All of the courses you take will require extensive field experiences in which you will apply the skills you are learning in your classes to actual application with school children. You may choose to further your education through your involvement in the Professional Partnership Network.  The program will allow you to spend additional time in the same classroom for three semesters, teaching you professional skills through immersion in the classroom setting.

Keeping You On Track

We keep our class sizes small so you can work closely with faculty and staff and benefit from their years of experience working in P-12 schools prior to coming to higher education.

Students must meet certain admission requirements and deadlines to be accepted into the Teacher Education Program and enroll in educational methods courses. You will have the benefit of working closely with full-time advisors in the College of Education Advising Center who will make sure you are prepared for any upcoming deadlines and will help you meet program requirements. Visit the Teacher Education Services website to learn more.
