This year we celebrate our 125th anniversary at Morehead State University, and I am honored to begin my tenure of service as president of the MSU Alumni Association. As we celebrate the humble beginnings of a regional institution to the international institution that it is today, I want all alumni and future alumni to participate in sharing the Eagle experience. I urge you to become active in the expanding and extension of MSU’s presence, by networking, attending functions and athletic events and investing in our University’s legacy. MSU is steeped in tradition, strong friendships and a committed faculty and staff, who value our students and friends.
I look forward to leading our alumni board in the strategic plan of the University, ASPIRE, toward the objective of engaging alumni to stay connected to MSU. In 2012, we reached a goal of 8 percent alumni giving. With your help, we will exceed that number this year.
Giving back to MSU is important as alumni, and we all have time and talent that we can offer an organization or department that made our collegiate experience remarkable. I still wear my Morehead State Equestrian Team shirt to horse shows to recruit students in the program that I loved!
I am now not only an alumnus, but, the mother of an MSU student. It is a great feeling to have a legacy in the University that you love. In my dual role as an MSU mom and alumni president, I ask you to join me to advocate on behalf of MSU, at home, in your workplace, school, place of worship, in the state legislature, throughout your community and the world. Our level of participation as alumni will impact the next 125 years, and ensure the school of humble beginnings will be not only as Dr. Donald Flatt so aptly named his book, “A Light to the Mountains,” but will be a light to the world. It is a great time to be an Eagle and we hope to see you at an event soon!
Sincerely, I remain,
Sen. Robin Webb (83), D-GraysonPresident, MSU Alumni Association
