He was involved in education, state government, banking, investment advising, and civil activities all his life. He was the first full-time alumni director (1959-63), member of the Board of Regents (1979-82), and vice chair of the MSU Foundation Board of Trustees (1979-83). He founded the Montgomery County Education Foundation and served on the governing board of the Kentucky Council on Higher Education. He was inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame in 1967.
