The purpose of the certificate for Director of Special Education is to prepare individuals to be effective administrators of public school special education programs. Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA to complete the program.

Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board

The Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB) is responsible for issuing and renewing certificates for all Kentucky teachers and administrators.

National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)

NCATE is the profession’s mechanism to help establish high quality teacher preparation.

Admission to Morehead State University (see MSU admission requirements).

Admission Requirements:  

1) Master's degree
2) Valid teaching certificate in an area in special education
3) GRE = 750+
4) Must receive favorable consideration from an admission review committee
5) Three years of full-time teaching experience in special education

Program Requirements:    

1) Satisfactorily complete all course work and earn a GPA of 3.0 or above on all graduate work attempted
