Goal 2- Student Success

How will we fulfill student academic support and co-curricular needs?

 
1. We will create a campus environment and student life program that:
  • Encourages and supports engagement
  • Celebrates diversity
  • Promotes and celebrates student academic and co-curricular achievements
  • Values excellence in communication and critical thinking 

2. We will incorporate opportunities in programs and services to develop life skills that prepare students to successfully live, work, and contribute to a global society through opportunities such as: 

  • Leadership roles in student organizations
  • Inclusion of students in shared governance 
  • Undergraduate research fellowship program
  • Graduate Assistantships
  • Leadership programs
  • The federal and institutional workstudy program
  • Cooperative projects with the Center for Regional Engagement and student activities

3. We will provide excellent support and resources for student activities, athletics and other co-curricular activities including: 

  • Open and effectively operate a state-of-the-art student recreation center
  • Benchmark funding and support resources
  • Transition the current Wellness Center into the Athletic Academic Support Center 
  • as specified in the Athletics Master Plan

4. We will provide quality professional development opportunities and support resources for faculty and staff to enhance their roles as student advisors and mentors such as: 

  • Technology tools to improve communication and access to critical data sets
  • Testing services and other career counseling resources available to assist students with selecting a major

5. We will utilize student input to enhance activities, programs, and services. Input is regularly solicited from groups including: 

  • Student Government Association and its committees
  • Student Programming Board
  • Minority Leadership Caucus
  • Interfraternity, Panhellenic and National PanHellenic Councils
  • Residence Hall Association
  • Student Athlete Advisory Committee
  • Student inclusion on University committees and work groups
