Goal 3 - Productive Partnerships

How will we utilize partnerships to benefit the people, communities and economy within Eastern Kentucky?


1. We will develop long-term and sustainable partnerships with key stakeholders throughout the region to build a collaborative and synergistic culture for addressing needs related to:
  • Education
  • Economic Development
  • Health and Wellness
  • Diversity
  • Community Building 

2. We will strengthen and expand relationships with public schools, other colleges and universities, and adult education programs to facilitate:

  • Alignment of the curriculum
  • Enhanced college readiness
  • Increased college-going and completion rates
  • Shared recruitment and student support services
  • Shared technology
  • Research and economic development

3. We will develop an infrastructure to support a more coordinated approach to building partnerships specifically focused on regional stewardship such as:

  • MSU Regional Campuses
  • Center for Regional Engagement
  • Center for Adult Education and College Access
  • Center for Traditional Music
  • Kentucky Folk Art Center
  • Institute for Regional Analysis and Public Policy
  • 21st Century Education Enterprise

4. We will promote entrepreneurial activities and support services such as:

  • High-tech businesses linked to the University’s Space Science Center
  • Small Business Development Center
  • MSU Regional Enterprise Center at West Liberty
  • MSU Innovation Centers
