THE PRESIDENT’S PERFORMING ARTS & SPEAKERS PROGRAM
The President’s Performing Arts & Speakers Program (PASP) has been created to enhance the vitality of MSU and to expand the intellectual engagement of our University students, faculty and staff, and community. The Initiative is comprised of three components: the Presidential Lecture Series, the MSU Speaker’s Bureau, and the presidential co-sponsorship of campus intellectual and creative events.
The program is operated through a collaborative committee process. Members of the committee coordinate with academic colleges and university programs to implement each of the program’s components, and to monitor and refine the program. Group members are appointed by the president and include a broad representation of the campus community including faculty, staff and students.
The program will be supported by the Office of the President, the Division of Student Life, and the MSU Fund for Excellence. Co-support will be provided by the academic colleges.
The Presidential Lecture Series offers an excellent opportunity to attract renowned speakers, performers and scholars to campus while drawing interdisciplinary groups together.
The lecture series consists of at least one lecture or performance each academic year. Each event is coordinated with and co-sponsored by an academic college and with the Division of Student Life, and is intended to have a broad appeal and stimulate discussion across the University and community.
