Intersections (in-təәr-sek-shəәns): noun. 1. the acts or processes of intersecting. 2. places or areas where two or more things intersect. 3. elements common to two or more sets) Intersections can mean many different things: the meeting of different groups, the connection of ideas, and/or the balancing of perspectives. Next spring, MSU will once again host an annual Presidential Lecture, organized around the general theme of “Intersections.” We would like your recommendations for a specific speaker or topic.
The principal goal of the Presidential Lecture Series, and the entire President’s Performing Arts & Speakers Program, is to enhance the vitality of MSU and to expand the intellectual engagement of our University students, faculty and staff, and community. Each year, a nationally- or internationally-respected figure provides a major lecture or artistic presentation, and engages with smaller groups of students, faculty, and staff. Each lecture/performance is co-sponsored by an academic college or Student Life, on a rotating basis. The College of Science and Technology will co-sponsor next spring’s Presidential Lecture, but your recommendation need not be limited to the disciplines represented in that college, as we wish to promote other presentations related to the theme of “Intersections” across the campus throughout the year.
