What is convergent media?
Convergent media combines the traditional areas of journalism and audio/video production with cutting-edge digital technology and provides you with the skills necessary to be a successful media professional. Journalistic writing and production are the mainstays of our program, supporting both academic excellence in the classroom and hands-on experience in the professional world of digital media.
Convergent media students at MSU experience unparalleled opportunities through exposure to our two multi-camera television studios, a recording studio, simulated radio stations, audio and video post-production editing facilities and numerous state-of-the-art digital field gear and multimedia newsrooms. In your first year, you will have the opportunity to work with The Trail Blazer, our campus newspaper, NewsCenter, our on-campus television program, and all programs produced through MSU-TV.

What is strategic communication?
Strategic communication is a unique program created for the purpose of teaching you how to develop effective communication and media strategies. It helps develop strong skills in critical thinking, effective writing, persuasion and message creation -- all designed to cultivate relationships with an increasingly global audience and stakeholders in corporate, agency, governmental and media settings.
Strategic communication courses focus on crisis communication, ethics, research methodologies, persuasion, collaborative communication, conflict management and team building while learning to develop and maintain a positive public image for organizations.
