Jamey Aebersold Jazz Award (Music)
Internationally known jazz artist and educator, Jamey Aebersold, established this $500 scholarship jazz scholarship award to recognize outstanding students in jazz at Morehead Sate University.  The Department of Music faculty makes selection with preference going to an individual from the University’s primary service region.  Eligible students must be enrolled in the Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies program, active in jazz performance, and full participants in the University’s jazz ensembles.  Recipients must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA in music and a 2.5 overall grade point average and have unmet financial need as determined by the University’s Financial Aid Office.

Application Procedure

To be eligible for a scholarship, you must first apply to Morehead State University by completing the Admission and Scholarship Application (www.moreheadstate.edu/apply). In addition to the application, you need to send your 7-semester high school transcript and ACT or SAT scores to Enrollment Services, 100 Admission Center, Morehead, KY 40351.

Some scholarships require an additional application, which is provided below.

If you are a current student, you do not need to reapply for admission, but you will need to complete a supplemental scholarship application, if required.

Requirements

For current / returning students only. 

  • students must be enrolled in the Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies program;
  • active in jazz performance, and full participants in the University’s jazz ensembles
