Join a Sorority

To join a sorority, women participate in a series of structured events called "formal recruitment," managed by the Panhellenic Council. This council is led by women elected by each of MSU's six sororities. Recruitment events begin on Wednesday, August 21 and end on Sunday, August 25, 2013.

When you register for recruitment, you will be assigned a recruitment counselor, who is a sorority member. That counselor will contact you shortly after you register and will provide detailed information on how recruitment works. The process is easy, and counselors act under MSU's supervision to help you through each day's events.

Each sorority plans fun events that last 45 minutes to 1 hour, allowing you the opportunity to get to know women in each group. Each day, you narrow down which sororities you prefer. Each sorority also creates a list of women they prefer. At the end of recruitment, you choose your top two sororities, and each sorority creates a list of women they want to invite to be members. Once the lists are "matched", you will receive an invitation to become part of a sorority.
