Students applying to the Teacher Education Program (TEP)
must first be admitted to the University. You will be required to meet the admissions standards that
are in effect at the time you apply for admission to the TEP. You should check
with your advisor for current information and always refer to the TEP Handbook.
The Spring 2015 TEP Application opened Jan. 12, 2015. The
deadline to apply is Jan. 30, 2015.
Click here for the Spring 2015 TEP Admissions Timeline.
The TEP application process is completed electronically
through the College of Education’s electronic data system, Folio 180. All
students enrolled in programs leading to teacher certification are required to
purchase a Folio 180 account.
You must allow ample time to purchase a Folio 180 account
and obtain a user ID and password before the TEP application deadline.
Visit the Folio 180 webpage for more information.
Complete the online Folio 180 TEP Interview Eligibility
Application form before the spring and fall deadline. The application will be
submitted to and reviewed by the TEP Admissions Coordinator to confirm that you
have met all eligibility requirements.
You may apply for admission to TEP and be granted an
interview (as part of the regular scheduling of interviews) prior to meeting
all TEP admission requirements under specific circumstances. Refer to the Teacher Education Program Handbook
for a list of exceptions.
You will receive notice if your TEP Interview Eligibility
Application Form is approved and will receive a TEP Portfolio Template to
complete through your MSU e-mail.
Your portfolio will include:
View the TEP admission portfolio and interview scoring rubric.
After review of your portfolio, you may be selected for
interview into the TEP program. The interview committee will complete
assessments of your portfolio and how you perform during your interview.
Once recommended for admission to the program by your
interview committee, you must complete a face-to-face TEP Orientation Session
with the Director of Teacher Education Services before you can register for
TEP- restricted courses. During the orientation session you will learn more
about continuing and completing your academic program at MSU and obtaining your
teacher certification. You will also take a brief survey about diversity and
sign a checklist verifying that you understand what is expected of you in order
to complete your clinical practice semester and graduate ready to teach.
