State University Teacher Education students completing approved programs are
eligible to apply for a Kentucky Statement of Eligibility. The eligibility
statement is required prior to employment in a school and participation in the
Kentucky Teacher Internship Program.
(TC-1 forms) are
distributed during the final regularly scheduled MSU Clinical Practice
Seminar. Completed forms should be submitted to the certification office
prior to completion of the teaching program. The certification office
is located at 601N Ginger Hall.
In order to
adhere to Kentucky State Regulations, you must meet certification requirements
in effect at the time of application. Advisors will be kept up to date
with changes in state policies affecting University regulations. However,
it is your responsibility to stay abreast of current requirements.
certification requirements include successful completion of the PRAXIS
Specialty Tests and the appropriate PRAXIS Principals of Learning and Teaching
Test. Registration information for specialty tests, testing dates, test
preparation materials, and fee structures may be secured from the MSU Testing
Center, 501 Ginger Hall (first time certifications are free to Kentucky

A teaching certificate is valid only in the state for which it is issued. Certification and testing requirements are subject to frequent changes. Candidates who plan to pursue certification in another state should contact that state's certification/licensure office.
