"While at Morehead State, I was afforded the opportunity to study with one of the most diverse, experienced and talented group of educators in the country. They prepared me for everything from the classroom, to the concert hall, to the bandstand. There I discovered my musicianship in a caring and nurturing environment and forged friendships and relationships that will last my lifetime. Simply put, the Department of Music at MSU is one I've the finest programs in the country. I am honored and humbled to be a small part of its distinguished legacy."
After graduation I attended Indiana University and received a MM in Jazz Studies. Since then I've toured with the first national Broadway tours of Young Frankenstein: the Musical, Elf: the Musical, and The Addams Family: the Musical. Performed off-Broadway productions of Into the Woods, and The Pajama Game. Recorded with The Latin Jazz Collective, Peter Terry and the City Prophets, performed with the Blue Wisp Big Band, Don Rickles, the Bronx Opera and The Fuzzpops. I've taught many clinics and camps throughout the country, including being a member of the Jamey Aebersold Summer Jazz Workshops faculty/staff. I have also written to jazz educational texts, A Modern Approach to Improvisation- Vol. 1: The Improvisational Style of Alex Sipiagin, and Vol. 2: The Improvisational Style if Jim Rotondi. The third volume, The Improvisational Style of Scott Wendholt is currently in production. I'm an endorsing artist for Powell Trumpets and Flugelhorns and will be rejoining the equity tour of Elf: the Musical again this November.
