A Welcome from Dr. Green

Dr. Green Mug

Dear Prospective Student:

On behalf of the entire faculty, staff and student body, I welcome you to the Department of Agricultural Sciences at Morehead State University. I am glad you are considering MSU, and I look forward to helping you learn more about the exciting programs offered in our department.

The Department of Agricultural Sciences at MSU offers students a well-rounded educational experience through a combination of  classroom instruction and hands-on learning opportunities.

From your first semester in our department, you will learn practical skills at the Derrickson Agricultural Complex, our 350-acre farm and learning laboratory, and at Browning Orchard in neighboring Fleming County. At MSU, you don’t have to choose whether you want “book knowledge” or applied and practical skills; here, you’ll get both.

Our faculty in the Department of Agricultural Sciences is committed to student success, and provides a caring, supportive environment for student growth. Our small class sizes will allow you to receive personal, one-on-one attention from your professors, who also serve as academic advisors to guide you toward a successful career path. MSU’s Agricultural Sciences students also have other opportunities to learn hands-on skills while they study through internships, cooperative education programs and undergraduate research projects.

Education goes beyond the classroom at MSU in many ways. The University offers more than 100 student organizations campus-wide, with many of those groups specifically tailored for agricultural sciences students. At MSU, you’ll have a chance to get involved in making a difference in the community, all while getting to know your fellow students and acquiring valuable leadership skills. MSU offers students many ways to fit into campus life and make themselves at home as a part of our community.

I encourage you to schedule a visit to our campus, where you’ll be able to tour the University farm, meet with members of our faculty and see first-hand all the opportunities available to you at MSU. Again, I welcome you to our department and I look forward to seeing you on campus!
