Dr. David Butz is an associate professor of psychology at MSU.  Originally from Emmaus, Pennsylvania, he received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Pennsylvania State University and a master's and Ph.D. in social psychology from Florida State University.  Prior to his appointment at MSU, Dr. Butz completed a two-year postdoctoral teaching and research fellowship at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.  His research interests in social psychology include stereotyping, prejudice and intergroup relations. Dr. Butz regularly teaches undergraduate courses including: Introduction to Psychology, Experimental Design and Analysis, Social Psychology, Stereotyping and Prejudice, and Directed Research/Independent Study.  At the graduate level, he teaches courses in Social Psychology, Group Conflict and Violence, and Directed Research/Independent Study.
