Application Procedure

To be eligible for this scholarship you must submit a completed application packet, including admission application form, transcripts and test scores, by the March 15 priority application deadline.

Be admitted to MSU for the 2016-17 academic year as a new incoming freshman or transfer student with fewer than 24 hours and meet all of following requirements:

1. Be a legal resident of Kentucky; and

2. Have at least a 3.75 unweighted high school GPA; and

3. Achieve a minimum 28 ACT composite score (1240 SAT composite verbal + math)

“New incoming freshmen” include students transferring that have completed fewer than 24 hours of college credit. “Transfer students” refer to those who have completed 24+ hours of college credit at another institution. College credit hours completed prior to high school graduation, including Early College Program courses, do not affect scholarship eligibility.

Additional Information

Recipients receive $8,000 ($4,000 per semester) for fall and spring semesters of enrollment. Students receiving outside scholarships, including KEES funds, and financial aid may not receive more aid than total cost of attendance.

This scholarship cannot be awarded in addition to another academic achievement scholarship.

Criteria for renewal: Achieve a minimum cumulative 3.0 MSU GPA; maintain continuous full-time enrollment (at least 12 hours) with MSU; and satisfy the University's housing policy.

*Those awarded the Commonwealth Scholarship prior to 2016-17 must maintain the requirements for renewal as outlined in original scholarship offer letter.
