Government and Public Policy majors have attended schools of public administration at Virginia Polytechnic and State University, the University of Louisville, the University of Kentucky, and Morehead State University. If you are thinking about a career in state, local, and national government, visit the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration site where you will find information on graduate schools, internships, and careers.

Law

Government and Public Policy majors have graduated from all three Kentucky law schools and out-state law schools, including Georgetown University, Indiana University, Ohio State University, Vanderbilt University, the University of Texas, and Tulane University. If the practice law interests you, visit the Law School Admission Council site where you will find information on the Law School Admission Test and links to American law schools.

Non-Profit

Non-Profit

The nonprofit sector has been growing steadily, increasing nearly 25% between 2001 and 2011 (The Urban Institute). According to the National Center for Charitable Statistics there were over 1.5 million nonprofit organizations in the United States in 2010 - 17,955 in Kentucky alone.  A bachelor's or master's degree from the School of Public Affairs can prepare you for a meaningful and rewarding career with a nonprofit organization such as a foundation, professional or trade organization, charity, or advocacy group.  For more information about nonprofit careers visit the Nonprofit Career Website at Boston College, Careers in Nonprofits, or Idealist.org.

“Professors in the philosophy program at MSU have always taken a personal interest in me and I have found them to be approachable and knowledgeable about a wide range of topics from ancient to contemporary philosophical scholars and their research. The philosophy program has equipped me with critical thinking and analytical skills I know will serve me well as I prepare to take exams for entrance into graduate programs”.
