Bio

Image - Gold Square "MSU is a great place to create theatre because the environment is so collaborative.  Everyone is involved on some way in every production.  If you want to be involved, there is something for you the minute you walk in the door.  I love the hands on work I get with my students every day."

In addition to designing costumes for Morehead State University productions, Denise Vulhop Watkins has designed costumes for various professional theatre companies including: Pleiades Theatre Company, Looking for Lillith, Lexington Children’s Theatre, Summer Circle Theatre, and Emporia Summer Theatre.  She also toured with Circus Smirkus!, a group that was featured on the Disney Channel’s Totally Circus Series. Denise has also done work in other areas of theatre.  She authored the first Theatre Education Certification Program of its kind in the state of Kentucky, has taught for the Kentucky Governor’s Scholars Program, and she taught a course in London, England with the Cooperative Center for Study Abroad.  She currently serves as the President for the Kentucky Theatre Association.  Denise holds a bachelor degree in Theatre and French from Morehead State University, and the MFA in Theatrical Production Design from Michigan State University.

Theatre Major, Grayson, KY"MSU is my home away from home.  The Theatre Program has helped me grow as a performer and has given me the confidence that I need to be successful in the real world. I have had the privilege to perform in various Main Stage productions, as well as learning the ins and the outs of the technical side of a production. The MSU Theatre Program has taught me to love the arts and I look forward to building a career as a musical and theatrical performer."
